Membership in the St. John Family

Become a Member

Getting Started

Let's be clear...we do not believe you need to be a member of any local church to be saved; and you don't need to be a member of St. John for us to care for you! A relationship with God has one requirement: Commit to entrusting your entire life to Jesus as your Savior and Lord (John 3:16, 20:31, Romans 10:9-10).  If you say yes to Jesus, you are saved and a full-fledged member of God's family!

In addition, the Bible instructs us to do good to everyone, Christians and non-Christians, whenever we have the opportunity (Galatians 6:9-10). We're created to do good to people as representatives of God (Matthew 5:14-16, Ephesians 2:10).

So why be a member? We believe that the best way for believers to be faithful to the Bible's instructions for us to care for each other is to commit to each other as members of a local church. (Matthew 25:34-40, Galatians 6:1-2, 1 Corinthians 5:9-13, Hebrews 13:17).

Membership at St. John begins with your acceptance of our invitation to be part of the St. John family. We encourage people interested in being a member of St. John to complete an information form so we can contact and get to know you, and then attend one of our brief Saturday New Member Orientations. At the orientation we explain the privileges and responsibilities that come with membership.

Baptism

Baptism is the sign that Jesus gave us to show the world that we are members of his family. All members of St. John are baptized as an expression of their trust in Jesus and membership in his family.

Church Covenant

The process of becoming a member begins with Orientation and ends with you affirming our church covenant. The covenant is a written agreement between believers detailing our commitment and responsibilities to one another.

Care Groups

Every member is a part of a Care Group with two Care Group Leaders (CGLs) who look out for them. CGLs check-in regularly, answer questions about the church, and help members stay informed on what's going on with the church.
